IntroducingThe Mud House
With the experience gained from building our natural color studio using lime we are venturing into building our first eco-friendly farm cottage made of mud, offering a unique farm stay experience with modern amenities and traditional design.
This construction will only utilize natural materials and employ ancient, traditional mud building techniques, incorporating the five elements of nature also known as "pancha buthas" during design and construction process.

Why Mud House?
We believe a mud house is sustainable and more importantly these days it has been prevalent to demolish old houses built using mud in villages and replace them with cement buildings. One of the major reasons for this is due to lack of skilled artisans/workers who possess knowledge in revamping mud houses. We hope this mud house will act as a model house and as part of this project train couple of workers from local village in order to revive this old craft.
A better way to build houses.
Mud
- Mud is combined with sand and straw to make balls, which are used to construct walls.
Wood
- We have reclaimed Doors & Windows from old buildings which we will be used to build our mud house.
Stone
- Square cut stone and ruble is used to build the foundation. Sourced locally from within 10km radius.
Lime
- A material which was widely used before the introduction of cement. We can use it to strengthen our mud mix and also create beautiful wall plaster finishes
